Kelly Rowland - Rowland Houstons Dress Made Me Want To Be A Singer

KELLY ROWLAND was inspired to pursue a career in singing after watching WHITNEY HOUSTON perform in a red dress.

The Destiny's Child singer went to see the legendary pop star in concert with her mum Doris and was in awe of the stage outfit she was wearing.

Rowland, 27, told her mother she wanted to be a singer so she could buy her own collection of costumes like the How Will I Know hitmaker.

She says, "She sang in a red dress and I said to my mum that I wanted a red dress, also a yellow one, and blue one and a black one. I wanted so many dresses.

"I think that's what made me want to be a singer."

Gabriella Cilmi topples Madonna

AUSSIE singing sensation Gabriella Cilmi yesterday did what most teenagers can only dream of: she knocked Madonna from the No. 1 spot on Britain's top 10 chart.

The 16-year-old from Dandenong managed to bump the queen of pop -- who is credited with 200 million album sales worldwide -- from the chart with her debut single Sweet About Me.
Cilmi said she was pleased that her song had made such an impact.
"I'd like to do a few more commercial records and then try something different," she said.
"I guess I've got a lot of time to try new things and experiment."
Cilmi's rise to fame started when she was 12 and a music executive heard her singing at the Lygon St Festa.
Her album, Lessons to be Learnt, has taken four years to produce, but Cilmi says the finished product has been worth the wait.
She will spend the next five months in London promoting her album, after leaving her Dandenong home last week.
Cilmi quickly gained credibility in the music industry after appearing on prestige BBC program Later with Jools Holland, when she sang her No. 1 hit.
Fans in Australia can look forward to more of her music.
Cilmi says she has many more singles in the pipeline.

'Jennifer Aniston Calling The Shots In John Mayer Romance'

Although Jennifer Aniston appears to have fallen for John Mayer in a big way, friends say it is the former Friends actress who is calling the shots in their blossoming romance.
Much has been made of Jen's eagerness to find love again after her divorce from Brad Pitt – and also of Mayer’s past form as a total player.
However, whilst she’s reportedly confided in friends that she’s besotted with the younger singer, the same pals insist that she’s taking things in her stride.
"This is a whole new Jen. She's trying new things, taking a risk, and is game for getting out of her shell, living her life and trying to be happy," OK! quotes one pal as saying.
A friend of John’s goes one step further by insisting that it is Jen who is calling all the shots when it comes to her new relationship – and it seems to be paying off!
The friend says, "She doesn't rush off and go on vacation with John, and she's made it clear she will not be a groupie at his shows."
"He was smitten with Jen and came to visit her on set. They're actually working around her schedule more than anything!"
Keep up the good work, Jen!

Nbc - Report Oreilly Was Unleashed Against Nbc Ge

Fox News Chairman Roger Ailes phoned NBC chief Jeff Zucker last summer and threatened
to "unleash" Bill O'Reilly against NBC and its parent, General Electric, unless Zucker
reigned in MSNBC host Keith Olberman, who was regularly attacking O'Reilly (as "the
worst person in the world") and Ailes himself, the Washington Post reported
today (Monday). The complaints were later echoed in phone calls to Zucker from Rupert
Murdoch, chairman of News Corp, which owns Fox News, the Post said. After
the appeals failed, O'Reilly began an assault on GE chief Jeffrey Immelt, accusing him
and his company of supporting the Iranian government. "If my child were killed in
Iraq, I would blame the likes of Jeffrey Immelt," O'Reilly said during one broadcast.
GE spokesman Gary Sheffer insisted that "nothing we supply ... to Iran is in any
way endangering U.S. troops." He said that News Corp execs "tell us if the attacks
on O'Reilly end, the attacks on GE will end."

Phillippe addresses marriage rumours

Actor Ryan Phillippe has spoken about his divorce from actress Reese Witherspoon, denying allegations that he cheated on her.
The 33-year-old star told W magazine that the end of his seven-year marriage left him in "the darkest, saddest place" that he had ever been in.
The actor said: "There were a good four or five months of not being able to get out of bed. It was the worst time in my life."
He continued: "You get through it. It's a process that's not easy, but I get less and less sad about it every day."
Speaking about the reason for the couple's break-up, he said that the situation was "far more complicated and far less interesting than it's made out to be".
He said: "To look and search for these salacious reasons, to pin it on a person, or a moment in someone's life, it's not realistic."
Phillippe also denied rumours that actress Abbie Cornish was responsible for the break-up of his marriage.
"It was unfair for her to be called the names that she was, because it wasn't about that.
"I don't think an outside person can ever cause a divorce. I had difficulties in my relationship, and in my marriage, long before I ever met her," the actor said.
